Short description: This course extends knowledge of modelling and computation of two dimensional statically indeterminate structures. Course is focused on displacement and Cross method.
Full description: Solving statically indeterminate structures by using displacement and Cross method. Influence of external load and non-mechanical factors on internal forces and displacements. Matrix algorithm for force and displacement method. Planar frames stability evaluation by using displacement method according to 2nd order theory, critical load determination. Basics of structural dynamics.
Bibliography: 1. „Structural Mechanics” B. Shihua, G. Yaoquing
Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student has the knowledge of solving statically indeterminate structures by using standard and matrix notation. Student knows how to check correctness of calculations for statically indeterminate structures. Skills Student can statically indeterminate structure by using force or displacement method. Student can estimate influence of non-mechanical factors on structure. Can apply matrix notation to improve necessary calculations by using computer. Social competences Student is aware of the importance of structural mechanics in practical design.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: grade obtained at classes (50%) + grade obtained at lectures (50%)
